A plethora of great classics. As the record store itself becomes a classic, Spindles has a thriving business in keeping great classic recordings alive, in their original format. From collectables, albums, 8-tracks, cassettes to CD’s and DVD’s.
I find it intriguing that today there are more ways to listen to music than ever before. There are downloads, web streaming, pod casts, Myspace, youTube, CD’s, DVD’s, web radio, satellite radio, am/fm radio, live music, and the list goes on. But, more and more it’s becoming “hands off.”
When I walk into Spindles, I’m reminded of the way record stores use to be. The way you could touch your music. You could handle it, flip it, open it, and smell it. I browse some classic rock records, and I’m reminded of the times I used to listen. Listen to the music they told me was abominable. I look back today and realize it wasn’t foul and revolting…it was legendary and has its special place in history. This is how you’re going to feel when you go to Spindles to look up your old favorites. And, I guarantee, when you throw your old favorite classic album on your turntable, you’ll call to mind how great recordings used to sound.
You can compare Spindles to a small Amoeba Records right here underfoot in Temecula. You’ll find classic titles from rock, country, folk, punk, reggae, pop, and more, as well as vintage posters, pictures, books, comic books, and magazines; virtually a small, but sufficient museum of legendary performers.
Now let me prepare you a little for your first visit. You should come prepared to buy (or sell). I say that with amusement because the pricing is dreadfully inspiring…from .99 cents. And, you are sure to find something you can’t live without, and if you pass it up, it won’t be there when you return. Spindles will buy their inventory from other collectors, sellers, and a few national distributors. They have ample supply, and it moves quickly.
